'Game of Thrones' Season 5 News: Church in Croatia Bans Filming of Cersei Lannister's Nude Scene
The "Game of Thrones" Season 5 filming has been slammed with a major hurdle in Dubrovnik, Croatia. A church reportedly banned the producers of the HBO series from filming Cersei Lannister's (Lena Headey) nude scene.
According to a TMZ report, the local film commission did not allow Cersei's nude scene to be filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia because the city's Church of St Nicholas has a strict policy not in favor of public displays of sexuality. However, an unnamed source revealed to the entertainment site that the show's big bosses refuse to cut the nude scene because it is important to the storyline and an iconic moment from George R. R. Martin's "A Dance With Dragons" book.
Warning: Spoilers ahead. The scene that got banned involves Cersei Lannister walking naked through King's Landing as self-punishment after getting released from prison. According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, the scene will still be filmed but in a different location due to its significance to the "Game of Thrones" Season 5 storyline.
The report further added that author George R.R. Martin recently revealed about being happy and frustrated with the attention he receives from the success of the TV adaptation of his novel since it got aired back in 2011. The 65-year-old author shared that he and his wife were still able to step outside and listen to street musicians and watch plays and comedy performances with only three people recognizing him.
"I was happy to sign an autograph for them. Now, three or four people recognise me every block. I can't go out any more, I can't walk the streets," Martin shared. The author further added that it is great and nice to meet the readers and fans who love the books and the HBO series.
However, George R.R. Martin claims there are now so many fans approaching him and it does not seem to end. "Oh, and selfies. If I could clap my hands and burn out every camera phone in the world, I swear I'd do it," Martin stated.
"Game of Thrones" Season 5 filming is currently in progress with the majority of the scenes already completed in Northern Ireland. The new season of the hit HBO series is expected to premiere in April 2015.
