The focus in "Game of Thrones" Season 5 may shift from King's Landing to Dorne. Many of the new cast members are based in this southern kingdom. Here is a look at the importance of Dorne and events from the kingdom that may feature in the TV show. [Spoiler Alert]

Some of the new cast members in "Game of Thrones" Season 5 are Alexander Siddig as Doran Martell, Toby Sabastian as Trystane Martell, Jessica Henwick as Nymeria Sand, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand and Keisha Castle-Huges as Obara Sand. All these characters will appear in Dorne.

Dorne is one of the hottest regions in all of Westeros. The Dornish wine is famous throughout the seven kingdoms. As the people in the north give their bastard children the surname "Snow," the people in Dorne give the surname of "Sand" to their bastard children.

The now deceased character Oberyn Martell also belonged to Dorne. Readers who have watched the previous season of "Game of Thrones" will remember that the young prince was not comfortable with the Lannisters, because of their suspected role in the rape and murder of Elia Martell and the murder of her children. The following spoilers are based on the books written by George R. R. Martin, readers should note that the producers of the TV show may choose to alter some of the events on the show.

Readers will come to know of House Martell's support to the Targaryens and their plans to wed Arianne Martell to the now deceased Viserys Targaryen and Quentyn Martell to Daenerys Targaryen. The House Martell will do everything they can to secretly undermine the power of the Lannisters.

But the Sand sisters may not be very patient to get their revenge on the Lannisters. They are the daughters of Oberyn Martell who died in King's landing in a trial by combat. His intention was to extract a confession out of Gregor Clegane for the rape and murder of Elia and then kill him.

Readers should note that on a previous occasion Tyrion Lannister had sent Myrcella Baratheon to Dorne to get the support of House Martell. After the death of Joffery, the Sand sisters will try to rally support for Myrcella for the Iron Throne. That however is prevented by Doran Martell, the head of the House Martell.

With many of the Lannister family members now dead or rendered powerless, will the House Martell enlist the support of Daenerys Targaryen in "Game of Thrones" Season 5? Quentyn Martell was supposed to travel across the sea to meet with Daenerys, but the character has not been cast this season.
