'Game of Thrones' Season 6: Get ready for more flashbacks; Enemies forced to work together
Perhaps the biggest flashback scene that the fans expect to see in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is the Tower of Joy scene. In a recent interview, writer and producer Bryan Cogman teased that there may be more flashback scenes featured in the show this time around.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cogman said that since the show is now in the sixth season, they have a lot of opportunity to draw from the past storylines. The writer/producer teased that the next season will have “lot of thematic and explicit callbacks” to Season 1 and the other past seasons of the show.
Cogman teased that in the new season some of the characters will meet in unexpected ways. Some of them will also be forced to work with their rivals, which the writer said helps create some “juicy dramatic tension.” He also said that this season is the biggest one yet.
This is also the first time the show has completely overtaken “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series written by George R.R. Martin, on which the show is based on. Cogman said that it was “scary” and at the same time “exciting” to write “Game of Thrones” Season 6 and described it as the hardest season to write.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the show premiere and some of the cast members shared their thoughts on what the viewers’ reactions will be after watching the episode. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the cast members teased that the fans are in for some shocking moments.
“I can’t believe they…” Michael McElhatton teased will be the reaction of the fans. “You’re joking. You’re joking!” Liam Cunningham (Davos) said would be the reaction. Kristian Nairn (Hodor) decided to just say what his character would have said, which is “Hodor.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 6 is set to premiere on April 24. The trailer of the show promise massive battles and a flashback scene that may reveal who Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) real parents are.
