‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 spoilers: Bran Stark may cause an earthquake in Westeros; Isaac Hempstead Wright reveals on-set pranks
From a bright and cute child to an unfortunate cripple, “Game of Thrones’” Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) has seen and experienced way more than a child of his age has. However, the never-ending battle for the Iron Throne may see Bran as a kingmaker due to his extraordinary powers and enabling capabilities.
[Spoiler Alert] While speaking to Yahoo Singapore, the 17-year-old British actor recently revealed that with his abilities to see into the past as well as the future and with his enabling capabilities, he can even cause an earthquake in Westeros.
Wright has told fan to expect a lot of magic when “Game of Thrones” returns with Season 6, though he has still got a lot of learning to accomplish. He also revealed that he has approached Season 6 in a different way where Bran has been a silent watcher of all the things that unfolded in the five seasons. However, he may not be silent anymore. His actions will speak.
“Particularly this season, he’s almost read the script. He knows what’s going on all around the world. So this year, I kind of approached it as if Bran had just watched the show the whole time. When we meet Bran in season 6, he’s still got a lot of learning to do, but expect lots of magic,” Wright added.
He confessed that his absence from Season 5 caused a lot of sadness in him, especially when he used to see all other cast members on screen. His school examinations coincided with the filming of Season 5. Hence, he couldn’t be present.
Wright revealed that the greatest pranksters on the sets of “Game of Thrones” are most definitely the showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. He said that the showrunners sometimes send amended scripts to actors just for fun where they are killed off as the show is known to kill off important characters.
Once they sent such a script to Alfie Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy, where it was written Bran Stark would kill Greyjoy stabbing him multiple times. Allen fell for the prank and immediately called up Wright to say, “Oh my god, just read the new script, you stab me to death, that’s amazing!” Wright did say that all actors, when they receive the scripts, first check out if they are alive or not and then read the story.
Bran was last seen in Season 4 where he had finally found the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow), the mysterious figure in a cave under a giant weirwood tree far north of the Wall. It was the Three-Eyed Raven that had been guiding Bran from afar. However, a “Game of Thrones” Season 6 trailer shows Bran Stark standing and in good health but facing the King of White Walkers.
“Game of Thrones” Season 6 hits screens April 24. It will premiere April 25 on showcase on Foxtel Australia.
