Violence in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 has been surprisingly subdued compared to its other seasons. Fans all the way were expecting the latest episode, titled “No One,” to have lots of bloodshed, as Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was to fight The Waif (Faye Marsay). However, they were disappointed, as Arya’s revenge on The Waif was not shown, simply to bring out the importance of a fight in darkness to give Arya an advantage over The Waif.

[Spoiler Alert] “No One” had all the situations and elements for graphic violence and insane fights such as Battle of Riverrun, attack of Mereen and last but not the least, clash between some members of the Faith Militant and The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), as teased by the episode 8 preview. None of these situations materialised into graphic portrayal of fights. It is believed that the showrunners are keeping the violence for the last two episodes.

However, after watching “No One,” fans were the most disappointed with King Tommen’s abolition of the popular practise of “trial by combat.” It was speculated heavily how Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) would bring wrath on her opponent via The Mountain. But all hope was lost, both for Cersei and GoT fans, for an epic showdown, when the King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm outlawed “trial by combat” to their disgust and dismay.

Showrunners have clipped the limbs of The Mountain and until and unless, something dramatic happens, he will have to wait to wield his axe, sword or whatever weapon he hurls at his enemies. This basically means Cersei is left with no other option but to face an actual trial where she will in all probability be sentenced to death by some boring sermon or something extremely pious.

There was a hint of violence though in The Mountain’s scene with few men of the Faith Militant, led by Lancel Lannister (Cersei’s cousin, ex-lover and now a fanatic). The group came to the Red Keep as Cersei was summoned by the High Sparrow. Cersei refused to follow orders and when given an option, she chose violence over being commanded.

That is when a brave yet foolish guy from the Faith Militant put an axe into The Mountain’s armour, infuriating him. His bloodshot eyes turned even redder and he grabbed the man by his throat and threw him like a sack of potatoes. Next, The Mountain ripped off the man’s head from his body, like uncorking a bottle of soda.

However, everybody wants to see the wonder characters of GoT go full swing with their killing skills. The next episode, titled “Battle of the Bastards” yet again teases an awe-inspiring clash between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), both bastards.

It will be exciting to see if the showrunners can beat the level set in the episode “Hardhome” in “Game of Thrones” Season 5, where Jon Snow and the Wildlings clashed with the White Walkers. It was undoubtedly the most epic fight sequence in the entire GoT history.
