'Game of Thrones' Season 6 spoilers: 'Rebirth' of Daenerys; Emilia Clarke says she doesn't need dragons to show leadership
Daenerys Targaryen showed why she is the right leader to sit on the Iron Throne in episode 4 of “Game of Thrones” Season 6. Emilia Clarke said that her character doesn’t need dragons to show that she is a capable leader in a new video released online.
[Spoiler alert]
Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) managed to kill all the Khals in the recently aired episode and she didn’t need an army or her dragons to do it. The character has been mostly helpless in the whole of Season 5 and the first three episodes of the current season. Clarke said in a video released by the producers that seeing Jorah (Iain Glen) and Daario (Michiel Huisman) gave her the confidence to go through with her plans.
Her plans involved Daario and Jorah to take down the guards and wait for the meeting with the Khals. Huisman said in the video that his character has little faith in the Mother of Dragons because he has never seen her walk out of a fire unburnt.
The fire scene in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 has not been seen since the very first season of the TV series, Clarke pointed out. The actress said that this “rebirth” of her character, through the fire, proved to the people around her that “she is exactly who she says she is” and she deserves people bowing down to her. The event also proved to Daenerys herself that she doesn’t need dragons to be the leader she wants to be and that she can sit on the Iron Throne.
In another video, giving the fans an inside look at episode 4 of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 featured Executive Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss sharing their insights about some of the scenes. Benioff said that the first time Daenerys walked out of the flame very few people saw it. This time, however, it was essentially all Dothraki who have witnessed this miracle. The event now makes her the queen of the Dothraki.
