In Season 6 Episode 3, Rickon Stark was handed over by House Umber to Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). They also proved that the grown boy was actually the youngest Stark by showing the decapitated head of his direwolf, Shaggydog.
Huffington Post says that the 14-year-old actor confirmed in an interview that Shaggydog was indeed killed. He continued that it was disappointing to realize that he would never get to hang out with the dog on the set again. He said that he was a bit upset after he read that Shaggydog would be dead.
Rickon Stark has been absent from “Game of Thrones” for a while and was last seen in Season 3. During that hiatus, Parkinson appeared in films like “San Andreas” and “Love, Rosie.” He said that he did not actually get to see Shaggydog before he was decapitated.
He said that before his storyline went off, the dogs would be taken to his house and he would spend some time with them, so that he would not be intimidated by them on set. He noted that it was a great experience to work with both humans and dogs. He also added that they were even given the chance to adopt the dogs, but his mother though that Shaggydog would not get along well with their two other dogs.
Mashable notes that there are rumours that the Umbers may be plotting against Ramsa Bolton. Parkinson said that because the show is full of twists and turns, it is a possibility; although he said that it would be disappointing if Jon Umber actually betrayed the Starks.
He continued that if Rickon actually goes down, there will certainly be a fight. He described the character as tough, which means that he will not go down without making it hard for his enemies. He said that fans should watch out for the small details and that he hopes that there will be some form of revenge for the Starks soon.
“Game of Thrones” will air next on May 15 on HBO. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
