'Game of Thrones' season 6 spoilers: Sophie Turner reveals Sansa Stark will take charge and 'prove all haters wrong'
More “Game of Thrones” ("GOT") potential spoilers continue to surface as the Season 6 premiere draws closer. The latest news came from actress Sophie Turner, who revealed that her character, Sansa Stark, will prove all her haters wrong soon.
[Spoiler alert]
In the previous seasons of the HBO series, Sansa Stark has been deemed by many as a vulnerable and broken character, having experienced traumatic events such as the death of her father, the removal of her family from their home in Winterfell and being married to and raped by a terrible man; Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). Compared to other characters in the series, Sansa has grown a number of haters due to her vulnerability and apparent lack of will to fight back.
The Los Angeles Times reveals that in the sixth season, however, Sansa will undergo a huge change. The character was last seen jumping off a castle wall in Winterfell, with the aid of Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen). Greyjoy finally came to his senses after having been tortured for years by Ramsay Bolton.
"I’m so excited. This is the season I’ve kind of been waiting for for Sansa, and I feel like fans have been as well. Those people that get frustrated at her for doing nothing -- this is the season where she actually does something,” Sophie Turner said.
The actress continued that Sansa will gain some form of independence by finally taking charge, bringing with her the people that she wants -- and getting what she wants. She will become a leader in her own right. Turner shared that it was relieving to finally unravel Sansa’s potential. She added that she always knew that the character, who was weak at first, would break out eventually.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Turner also said that she started playing the character when she was only 13 years old, and knows Sansa even better than she knows herself. She teased that after all the pain that Sansa has been through in the past seasons, the next one will finally be a big one for her.
“And now it’s just fun because I get to prove all the haters wrong,” Turner said.
The actress also tweeted about her character going through a huge transformation. She said that Sansa will be a “boss” in the new season.
“Game of Thrones” Season 6 will launch on Apr. 24, 2016.
