'Game of Thrones' season 7 episode 4: Daenerys tired of clever plans
Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) may be a smart man, but when it comes to battle strategy he has much to learn. So far in “Game of Thrones” season 7 Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) has been forced to take a back seat and watch her forces lose in two major encounters. That will change in episode 4. The following article contains minor spoilers based on the preview video.
Cersei (Lena Headey) has secured the help of the Iron Bank, and their gold shipments will be arriving next episode. Money and food supplies will be crucial in this war. With the onset of winter, the Lannister army has managed to secure the large and fertile lands of the Tyrells, along with the treasures and grain stockpiles. Now, with the Braavosi money coming in, the Iron Throne looks unbeatable.
Daenerys is concerned about the way things are turning out for her. With her Greyjoy fleet destroyed, the Dorne family members captured and the Tyrells out of the game, the Mother of Dragons has no more allies left. She desperately needs Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) support.
Tyrion came up with the strategy of sending the Greyjoys and the Sand Sisters to attack Cersei, while the Unsullied army was sent to take Casterly Rock. It was a nice plan, but the only problem is that Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) had a better plan. The Lannister army went for a strategic retreat and attacked the Tyrells, allowing them to attack the Unsullied to retake their castle.
Daenerys is sick of “clever plans” that are not giving her results. The Mother of Dragons may come up with a strategy of her own next episode. But what will Jon Snow do? The trailer shows him looking for Dragonsglass supposed to be in a cave at Dragonstone. Will the King in the North support his host in her war? The other option for him is to head back North, where the real war will be fought soon.
