'Game of Thrones' season 7 episode 5: Jon Snow's the only hero
The war in Westeros rages on in “Game of Thrones” season 7, and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is the only one preparing to fight the real threat that everyone will eventually have to face. The stakes are so high for the two queens that they will resort to more brutality, especially Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The following article contains spoilers based on the preview video of episode 5.
Daenerys won a big victory in the previous episode, after losing two major battles. In the next episode of the HBO show, she will invite some of the Lords of Westeros and demand that they bend the knee. Refusal will mean certain death.
Fans got to see hints of the Mad Queen side of the Mother of Dragons in the last episode. Daenerys is in a desperate situation. Even though she has three fully grown dragons and the largest army in Westeros, she is in need of allies. She may show more of her Targaryen side if things continue to go wrong for her.
Both Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) are concerned with the way their queen is acting at the moment. She is paranoid and suspicious of even her most loyal supporters. But they will have to find a way to make her listen to reason.
Since Daenerys has little trust in Tyrion and Varys, especially after their clever plans led to one failure after another, it will be up to Jon Snow to stand up with her for the sake of the people. The preview video shows the King in the North confronting the Mother of Dragons while she is sitting on Drogon.
Just as Daenerys is desperate to turn the tide of battle, Jon Snow is also desperate to win allies to his cause. Bran/Three-eyed Raven (Isaac Hempstead Wright) will inform his brother in the next episode that the Army of the Dead is marching towards East Watch. So the big battle against the Night’s King will begin soon.
