'Game of Thrones' season 8: Tyrion Lannister loves Daenerys Targaryen
There will be a new dimension to the relationships in “Game of Thrones” season 8. There have been hints of Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) affection for Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in the past, but now Dinklage has confirmed that his character indeed loves the Dragon Queen.
In an interview with EntertainmentWeekly, Dinklage confirmed that Tyrion loves Daenerys. The actor pointed out that work is often both professional and personal for his character. The reason why he chose to follow Daenerys is obviously because he feels that she can be a good ruler for Westeros, and she is “awe-inspiring.” However, the other fact is that he has feelings for her.
Tyrion hasn’t expressed his love for Daenerys so far because he hasn’t had a good love life and has made some questionable decisions when it comes to the matters of the heart. So, Dinklage pointed out, even though the Imp loves his queen he is questioning these feelings.
Given this fact that Tyrion has feelings for Daenerys, Dinklage teased what went through the character’s mind when he found out that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys slept together on the way back home on a ship. “There’s jealousy wrapped up in there. And he loves Jon Snow, too,” Dinklage said.
Tyrion and Jon are both outsiders in their family and they have taken a route different from what others have done in their respective families, Dinklage explained. The big concern for the character now is to calculate the implications of Jon and Dany falling for each other.
There will be some far reaching political implications for Daenerys and Jon Snow now, and Tyrion knows that politics and love don’t mix well together. The three of them are also yet to find out the explosive truth about Jon Snow being a Targaryen, and that he has a claim to the Iron Throne.
