Millions of fans around the world have watched and re-watched the first season of "Game of Thrones" because of its twists and the deception that goes along with it.

As 2012 nears, fans are slowly gearing up for more characters, more adventures and definitely more dragons that will burn up TV sets.

HBO recently released an "in production" video of the George R.R. Martin medieval fantasy saga, featuring never-before-seen footage.

"... [the video] gave fans a first look at new characters from George R.R. Martin's series like Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), Melisandre (Carice van Houten) and more!" reported E! Online on the footage released just before the airing of "Boardwalk Empire," another great HBO series.

"Game of Thrones" is an award-winning HBO series based on the bestselling books of George R. R. Martin, "A Song of Ice and Fire." The story is set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and tells of the story on how the nobles of the Seven Kingdoms battle for the Iron Throne, with rising threats from the ice-covered region to the north as well as from the eastern continent.

The two-minute video might not have shown much about the premise of the next season, but it does take fans back to the reason why they fell in love with the series: the actors.

Even if Ned Stark (Sean Bean) died in the first season, he did leave the legacy of his sons such as the bastard Jon Snow, portrayed beautifully by Kit Harrington, the new patriarch of the Starks, Robb Stark played by Richard Madden and of course, who could forget the midget of the Lannisters, Tyrion, who won Peter Dinklage the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

"One of the great challenges of the second season is, the world just expanded, enormously, and not only do we introduce a great new number of characters but we're journeying to all new locations," says David Benioff, the executive producer and writer for "Game of Thrones," on the extension of Westeros and introduction of different characters such as Stannis Baratheon, Melisandre, Margaery Tyrell and Davos Seaworth.
