"Game of Thrones, or "GOT" will not be featuring Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) in its upcoming Season 5. David Benioff, the show's writer and executive producer explained the reasons why they chose to not include Bran's story. Read on to learn more about why there's no Bran or Hodor in "GOT" Season 5.

Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor in "Game of Thrones" let the cat out of the bag when he spoke about Bran and Hodor's time off from "GOT" to the Australian Broadcast Corporation.

"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books," Nairn said to the Australian Broadcast Corporation.

Of course, "Game of Thrones" fans didn't take it lightly and reacted violently about the said news. Thankfully, Benioff and fellow "Game of Thrones" showrunner Dan Weiss had an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly wherein they talked about why they decided to do away with Bran and Hodor in "GOT" Season 5.

"The fact is, even though we're making changes to the books and adapting as necessary, we're trying to keep the various storylines the same as the books and trying to keep them roughly [chronologically] parallel. And last year we caught up to the end of Bran's storyline [in George R.R. Martin's most recent "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel, "A Dance with Dragons"]. So if we pushed him forward this season, then he's way ahead of where the other characters are," Benioff said in the Entertainment Weekly report.

He also said that it would have been best if the news about Bran and Hodor not being a part of "Game of Thrones" Season 5 didn't get out. However, because it already has, he thinks it was an unfortunate thing.

In the "Game of Thrones" Season 4 finale, Bran was seen with Hodor and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) in a cave with the Three-Eyed Raven.
