Game Updates: SimCity 5 Server News, Tomb Raider DLC Packs & The Walking Dead Season 2
The gaming news isn't just buzzing with the release of SimCity, but also a bit of news about TellTale's The Walking Dead Season 2, as well as a pegged date for the release of Tomb Raider's first DLC pack, Caves and Cliffs.
SimCity 5: Server news updates
As though a replay of the Diablo III fiasco, SimCity's fifth installment release was met with unbridled enthusiasm from users, who, in turn, were met with a server crash. This isn't a surprise considering how the game requires constant Internet connection, whether you opt for single or multiplayer mode.
Develop-Online.net reports that EA has already apologized to US gamers for the technical difficulties, who were the first to try out the latest SimCity.
But according to T3, this won't be the case for the UK release, which is slated for sometime later this week. This should be an issue immediately resolved, because there have been reports saying that gamers are started to get annoyed by the fact that even single player games can't push through without server issues.
The Walking Dead Season 2: Out for Fall 2014
Though the zombies are back on TV screens, it will take a while before they claw their way back to gaming as EuroGamer reports that TellTale's release of the second season for The Walking Dead game is slated for fall of next year, according to TellTale CEO Dan Connors.
But this doesn't mean that it will be a long wait without anything related to the undead.
"We may have a little something extra for you between Season One and Season Two," said Connors to EuroGamer. "We'll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we're going to do."
Another piece of news would be the possibility of the next game being compatible to next-gen consoles. Given how it's still months away before there's any definitive movement, experimentation for the next-gen gadgets may be possible.
And Connors agrees, saying, "I would think so, though, it's all going to depend on timing I guess. But we don't have enough information from [Sony] to announce it or anything."
Tomb Raider Caves and Cliffs
Xbox 360 users will be the first to get their hands on the first DLC pack for the recently-released Tomb Raider.
Entitled Caves and Cliffs, you'll be taking Lara through three new multiplayer modes. There's the Scavenger Caverns, Cliff Shantytown, and the Burning Village, with each map having four multiplayer game modes each.
According to Game Informer, the game modes include Rescue, Team Deathmatch, Cry for Help, and Free for All.
Joystiq reports that the Tomb Raider packs will hit stores on March 19 at $5, but PC and PS3 players will have to wait their turn for the next adventure.
