Gareth Bale, who is on international duties, injured his groin in practice, as indicated by Wales manager Chris Coleman on Thursday, after their World Cup Qualifying against Macedonia.

The world's most expensive player is supposed to feature in Real Madrid's match against Villareal on Saturday.

However, his awaited debut for the Los Blancos could be temporarily suspended.

Although he was present at training on Monday with the Wales squad, who will be facing Serbia on Tuesday, there is a great probability that Bale will not come onto the pitch.

An initial diagnostic procedure, to examine the extent of his injury, was resorted to.

"Gareth went for a scan just to clear his mind, so he knows he is alright. He had a tight groin from Thursday." Coleman told dailystar.co.uk.

"He kicked a ball, the turf came away, his ankle rolls and he gets a bit of a strain with his groin."

"He continues with the session, wakes up in the morning and it's tight.

"I can see what he's thinking. If he had 10 games building up to it, it wouldn't have been in his head.

"But he hasn't had any pre-season. And he's thinking if he starts - or comes on - and that turns into something bigger then it doesn't look good for him."

Coleman would not take any chances and risk his prized possession, but may consider playing him for a limited time, if the circumstances so warrant.

"He told me on Friday morning he wasn't ready. I wouldn't push anybody to take that chance."

"He's never going to be available to start, but at best he will come on for half an hour."

"If Gareth says to me he can play a part then he is coming on to the pitch. There is no way that he's not coming on to the pitch."

"If there is any chance he can play - it only takes a player a second to change your life - he will be on the pitch."

"I promise you, hand on my heart. If there was a chance, he would be on the pitch."
