Reports say that former child star Gary Coleman is in a critical condition at a Utah hospital after falling and hitting his head.

A spokeswoman from the Utah Regional Medical Center said that Coleman was admitted to the Provo facility Wednesday, but she didn't give any other details.

His brother-in-law told TMZ.com that the actor is in a critical condition but details on the incident are still vague.

Earlier this year, he was hospitalized twice after suffering seizures.

Coleman became famous for his role as Arnold Jackson in the TV show Diff'rent Strokes, which was launched in 1986 and ran for eight years.

When the show ended, Coleman struggled through a string of financial, relationship and legal problems.

He was charged with domestic assault and was arrested earlier this year. He also previously pleaded guilty to reckless dricing after hitting a pedestrian. Back in 1998, he was charged for punching a woman.

Although he earned as much as $US100,000 per episode on Diff'rent Strokes, Coleman filed for bankruptcy in 1999.
