A Geelong teacher caught in a sex video with a former student had resigned, saying he understands the concern of parents and co-teachers, and he will repeat the offence.

John Walsh, media studies teacher at Oberon High School, said he understood the angry reaction.

Speaking to Ten Network's The Project, Walsh said, "Hindsight is 20/20."

Walsh's partner and former student, Sarah Bradford, appeared next to him in the interview for their side of the story.

Walsh said a pornographic Web site bought the video for $1,500, but he believed the site was restricted.

"If there is any message, there is no safe place on the Internet. Where we were supposed to be was supposed to be restricted, so I don't think it was supposed to be in the public domain, but it was leaked out and the rest is history," Walsh said.

A single-frame preview of the video shows Walsh and Bradford in the middle of a sex act while she was blindfolded.

AdelaideNow reported that Bradford, whose name the media had withheld, explained late in January that everyone who knew them was aware they were in a serious relationship.

Oberon High School principal Alison Murphy had said at the beginning of this month that the matter was under investigation, and there was no evidence of a sexual relationship between the teacher and the student before she finished school.

"I would not do it again. Take the morality issue out of it, I think the hurt I caused, that really affected me. I'm very fond of the school," Walsh said.

Bradford said she left the state for two years after school and she contacted Walsh only when she came back.

"It's not like an affair that people seem to think. We have been in a relationship and have been living together for 15 months (when the video was taken)," Bradford said.

The couple has been together for 18 months now, and they recently opened up a medicinal herb shop in Geelong.
