George Clooney And Amal Alamuddin Are Married
One of the Hollywood's most eligible bachelors is now a married man. George Clooney, 53, and British humans rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36, tied the knot in Venice, Italy, on Saturday evening, according to reports.
Clooney's representative, Stan Rosenfield, has confirmed the news that Clooney and Alamuddin got married in a private ceremony. People has quoted Rosenfield as saying, "George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today [Saturday] in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy."
People is reporting that Clooney and Alamuddin exchanged vows at a ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande hotel, where Alamuddin spent the night a day before. Clooney's close friend and Rome's former Mayor, Walter Veltroni, was the marriage officiant.
Clooney, looking dapper in a tuxedo, arrived at the luxury hotel in a water-taxi. He was spotted with his father, Nick Clooney. He was seen smiling and it did not look like he was experiencing any pre-wedding jitter. The water-taxis also ferried his friends and family, who were staying at Hotel Cipriani, to the venue. There are reports that Bono, Bill Murray, Matt Damon, super-model Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, were at the ceremony.
"A bemused-looking Clooney rubbed his hands together before ducking inside a tent covering the hotel's pier -- his last public moment as the world's most eligible bachelor," according to New York Daily News.
Mail Online has reported that Clooney spent the last night of his single-life with his male friends, drinking vintage red wine and tequila. Gerber, Grant Heslov and other male friends were spotted with Clooney at the Da Ivo restaurant on Friday night, according to Mail Online. Before they took separate directions to join their respective friends, Clooney and Alamuddin reportedly joined family and friends for a rehearsal dinner in Venice.
Clooney and Alamuddin started dating in Oct. 2013. They got engaged on April 22, 2014. The two obtained their marriage license in August. According to USA Today, the civil ceremony is expected to take place on Monday at the16th-century Palazzo Cavalli.
