Hollywood actor George Clooney is having an eventful year so far both personally and professionally. The 53-year-old is not only reportedly getting married to his girlfriend Amal Amaluddin but the talented actor will also be honoured with Cecil B. DeMille Award, an honorary Golden Globe for his contribution to cinema.

The Oscar-winning actor, director and producer will be awarded at a star studded ceremony in January at the 72nd Golden Globes Awards, revealed Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Monday. In 2014 director Woody Allen was the recipient for the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Actors Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, directors Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese are previous recipients of this award.

Clooney will be awarded for his "outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera," revealed Theo Kingma, the association's president in a press release. In the past, the "Oceans Eleven" actor has won two Oscars and three Golden Globes. The award is named after the influential Hollywood director Cecil B. DeMille who contributed largely to both silent and sound films.

Meanwhile there is speculation in the media that the actor is reportedly getting married to Amal on Friday but there has been no official confirmation yet from his representatives. However, the handsome actor did reveal that wedding is on his wish list and he intends to make Amal his wife soon in Venice.

"I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, who I will be marrying in a couple of weeks in Venice, of all places. Amal, I love you to death and I cannot wait to become your husband," revealed Clooney to the audience, according to E! Online.

The couple's rumoured guest list includes Bono, Ellen Barkin, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, the website added. The guests are expected to be staying at Hotel Aman, where suites cost up to $5,180 per night. Clooney will tie the knot in a three-day celebration at Ca'Fersetti, a famous 14th century estate on the Grand Canal with Amaluddin. The bride is reportedly wearing either a Oscar de la Renta gown or a bridal dress by Alexander McQueen, revealed the website.
