George Clooney Set To Direct Movie Based On 'Hack Attack'
George Clooney has got his hands full for the major part of next year. Quite a few events are lined up for the actor in the next few months. He is scheduled to have a bachelor bash followed by a high-profile wedding to his fiancée and British Lawyer Amal Alamuddin. Despite all these activities, however, Clooney is set to embark on a new movie project.
Clooney will soon be directing a movie based on the real life UK phone hacking scandal that came to light in 2011. As reported by the Mirror, the actor's new venture will be entirely based on the journalist Nick Davies' book 'Hack Attack'. The book is the result of six years of extensive investigation conducted by the journalist on News Corporation and News International.
The various shocking revelations in the book concerning the hacking activities of employees of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, the newspaper 'The News of the World' eventually closed down in 2011. Being a son of journalist himself, Clooney has attached a special significance to the subject matter.
"This has all the elements--lying, corruption, blackmail--at the highest levels of government by the biggest newspaper in London," the 53-year-old star told Variety. "And the fact that it's true is the best part. Nick is a brave and stubborn reporter and we consider it an honour to put his book to film," he added.
Clooney will also be producing this film with his partner Grant Heslov through their company Smokehouse Pictures. As reported by Variety, the shooting will start next year. Clooney has directed many outstanding movies in the past, such as 'Good Night and Good Luck', 'Leatherheads', 'The Ideas of March' and the recently released 'The Monuments Men'.
Speculations have also already started to come out with respect to the probable actors to be chose to play the characters in the film. With Clooney handling the project, fans are expecting remarkably talented and well suited actors to be included in the cast.
