George Harrison's Childhood Home To Be Auctioned At Prices Expected To Be Influenced By Beatlemania
George Harrison's childhood home will be bid for a guide price of £100,000, but which is expected to shoot up due to Beatlemania, according to Independent.co. This small, three-bedroom mid-terrace was the venue of some of his first rehearsals with Paul McCartney and John Lennon,
before getting international success as the Beatles. Fans can buy his house before it comes under the bidding hammer at Cavern Club in Liverpool city centre. The house goes to auction at 7 pm on Oct. 20.
Since he was six, George lived at 25 Upton Green in Speke, when his parents, Harold and Louise, shifted into the council house in 1949. They remained there till the beginning of the sixties decade. He met Paul and John during his last few years at the house. Their band, The Quarrymen, which became The Beatles, practised in this area.

Today, the house will be sold at an auction, as the last owner is dead. The house, with a back garden, is marked at a guide price of £80,000 less than the average price of a home in England and Wales. However, Beatlemania could make the prices shoot up, as fans would love to buy it.
The decision was taken after John Lennon's childhood home at 9 Newcastle Road, in Wavertree, sold for nearly half a million pounds in October 2013. Countrywide Property Auctions, which sold John Lennon's house, will also sell George Harrison's.
Stephen Giddins, the Regional Sales Director of estate agent Entwistle Green, said that they were happy to act on behalf of the current owner of 25 Upton Green, a house with a "unique history." He admitted that the Beatles, "arguably one the biggest bands of all time," still drew crowds to Liverpool every year. He was excited about the option to offer the house for sale. He said that if you assess the area, property as well as the background, they anticipated that they would lure a lot of local as well as worldwide interest. He called interested parties to register as soon as they could, so that they would "not miss out on the rare opportunity. "
There has been a total revamp of the house, with a different hall, lounge, kitchen, dining hall and a large garden at the back. There are three spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and WC on the first floor.
