George Michael has been charged for allegedly being unfit to drive after his car crashed into a shop near his home 3:30am Sunday.

The Range Rover of the former Wham! frontman hit the entrance of the Snappy Snaps in Hampstead, North West London..

An employee of the shop said, "The police have got the CCTV and the manager is dealing with it. No one knows what happened."

The incident makes it the seventh time Mr Michael has been at the middle of a police investigation into his driving in the last six years.

His car was caught on CCTV climbing the pavement before colliding with the buckled metal door frame.

The petrified singer jumped out of his 4x4 but is thought to have waited for police. He did not require medical attention.

Mr Michael was not tested for alcohol after telling the police he had not been drinking. He was, however, searched for drugs at a police station, according to sources. No drugs were found and he was bailed until August.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said, "Police were called at approximately 3.30am on Sunday to reports of a vehicle in collision with building.

"Officers attended and a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive. He was taken to a North London police station and later bailed to return during August pending inquiries."

Mr Michael has admitted drug problems in the past. Last year, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after hitting a lorry in Berkshire. The 47-year-old singer, who had just finished a two-year driving ban, was later released without charge.
