Geri Halliwell is officially replacing her former bandmate Mel C as the newest judge on "Australia's Got Talent." The pop singer, known as Ginger Spice, said that she sought permission from Scary Spice before she said yes to the Nine Network.

Mel B was originally announced as the new AGT addition, but she was still signed on with the rival network, Channel 7. The exclusivity clause in her contract has prohibited her from appearing on other Australian TV networks until January 2014.

She was part of 7's "The X Factor" before her custody battle with the fathers of her children forced her to quit.

But after losing to Channel 7 in their legal case over her contract, Mel B is now also unable to fulfil her deal with Channel 9, which left the network in a limbo. Fortunately, another Spice Girl is willing to fly to Down Under to appear on their show.

Geri told A Current Affair that she asked Mel B before she said yes to her new role.

"She actually said I just want you to know I think you should do it cause you're gonna have a great time and I love Australia," the 40-year-old British singer said.

"I actually genuinely love the show, you know. I watch Britain's Got Talent and I'm a fan of the show. I think shows like that are brilliant and I love the opportunity they give to normal, everyday people."

Meanwhile, the two women, along with their fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm (Mel C), the Sporty Spice in their group, have been throwing dares at each other. Last week, Mel B recently dared Geri to walk into a pub and sing the chorus of their hit song "Say You'll Be There," which Geri did.

Mel B also previously "mooned" her neighbours as she got naked in her balcony after Mel C dared her to.
