Germany vs. Ghana Live Stream & Preview, Radio Streaming & Stats – World Cup 2014
Germany and Ghana will rekindle their rivalry, as the two highly-talented football nations collide on Saturday (20:00 Brazil/5:00 Sydney) at Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza in Brazil.
Germany is looking for another three points that would guarantee them a spot in the knockout stages of the World Cup. The Germans completely crushed the Crisitiano Ronaldo-led Portugal in the opener, and they looked for dominant performance against a desperate Ghana squad, who are trying to erase the pain of a 1-2 loss to USA last week.
German striker Thomas Muller scored the first hat-trick since the 2002 World Cup. However, the spotlight for this showdown will be on the Boateng half-brothers.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is expected to make a return after missing the opening-game against Portugal, while Matt Hummels (thigh problems) could be replaced by Shkodran Mustafi.
For Ghana, Majeed Waris could be tapped to back up Asamoah Gyan, the leader of the team's attacking unit since the 2010 World Cup.
"For Ghana, Majeed Waris should be available for selection, but Asamoah Gyan is likely to lead the attack once more," according to the Telegraph football expert John Ley.
John Ley predicted a fierce battle between the rival on Saturday, but Germany seem to be too talented for the Ghana to contain. He predicted a 3-1 win by the Germans. Mark Lawrenson of BBC News backed up Ley's prediction by predicting a 2-0 win to book their ticket into the next round.
"Ghana's defeat by the United States means they have to win this - and an open game will suit Germany down to the ground.
Germany's tricky-looking game against Portugal turned into a walk in the park for them, and it is definitely a case of them and one other to qualify for the last 16 now," Lawrenson stated.Possible Lineup
Germany (Possible, 4-3-3): Neuer; Boateng, Mertesacker, Mustafi, Höwedes; Kroos, Lahm, Schweinsteiger; Özil, Müller, Götze. Test: Hummels (thigh).
Ghana (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Dauda; Opare, Mensah, Boye, Asamoah; Essien, Muntari; Atsu, Boateng, Ayew; Gyan.
