‘Girl Meets World’ creator says season 4 will not tell ‘extreme stories’
Several fans have been heartbroken when it was announced that "Girl Meets World" season 3 is the end of the series in Disney Channel. Fans are surely hoping for more, with a campaign even launched to save the show. But it seems that the end of the beloved show in Disney is not its ultimate fate yet, with the show creator hinting about the possible plot for the next instalment of the show.
Series creator Michael Jacobs said he would love to pursue the story of the series’ characters as they grow up in the world. Since a possible “Girl Meets World” season 4 will not be airing on Disney, it could mean thatthe show would be able to present more mature content.
But Jacobs has clarified that season 4, if given the chance, will not follow a severe plot. “I’m not intimating or suggesting we would go absolutely crazy with license to tell extreme and severe stories,” he told the Wrap.
The series creator has also assured fans that talks for a possible renewal are surely up with other networks. But as of this writing, there are no official details yet of a network showing interest to purchase the show’s rights from Disney Channel.
Jacobs said the announcement for season 4 may happen sooner rather than later. “I don’t think this thing can go on three or four months without a decision,” Jacobs told the Wrap. If a network decided to pick up the show, it is expected that the showrunner will let the fans know right away.
By any chance the series does not go forward, Jacobs implied that he would announce the news on Twitter. “If the show does not go forward, I have this little thing on Twitter I’ve had fun with. You would probably, at some point, hear what at least I had in mind, in some summation or wrap up, if it doesn’t go forward,” he said.
But it seems Jacobs, who was also the show creator of “Boy Meets World,” is confident that the show will get another chance. He shared on the same interview that what they are into are really good, in which he seemed to refer to the talks he and his team are having with other networks.
Jacobs had also taken the directorial seat for other television series like “Dinosaurs,” “Lost At Home” and “Boy Meets World.” “Girl Meets World” was nominated Outstanding Children's Program for Primetime Emmy. The series aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
