'Girl Meets World' officially over; Star Rowan Blanchard writes emotional letter to fans; entire 'Boy Meets World' cast reunite for GMW finale
The interesting journey of two young girls into adulthood will be cut short. It has already been confirmed that “Girl Meets World” will no longer be returning for a fourth season on Disney Channel.
Viewers have already been questioning the show’s outcome since late last year, when it became apparent that the its ratings situation was getting shaky. While there is still a lot of love for the original 90s ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World,” from which this who was based on, viewership has shrunk from an outstanding 5.16 million viewers for the premiere to an average of 1.5 million in the third season.
News of the cancellation was confirmed in a series of tweets from the Girl Meets Writers Twitter account, writes TV Line. The first tweet said that it is with incredible pride in their work and complete sadness that the show has to end and that the show is officially over. Another tweet says that they have just gotten the call and that they would like to thank the audience for their incredible love and loyalty. Lastly, the account says that they will leave viewers with three incredible souvenirs of a show that they could not be proud of and as they look back, they can assure every fan that they gave their best.
The report also says that while the cancellation news might sadden most fans, it is not entirely unexpected. Earlier, several cast and crew members were seen posting cryptic hints at farewells on different social media accounts just right after filming the finale for the third season.
Right after the news officially broke, Rowan Blanchard and other cast members took out their disappointment, as well as their gratitude, on social media. In her open letter, Blanchard reveals that being on “Girl Meets World” had been the most significant event in her life so far as such has changed every aspect of her life as it has taken up most of the life that she remembers.
As the show exits, it will be leaving its viewers with one last dance that will be worth watching. Nearly the entire cast of “Boy Meets World” will appear in the show’s final episode to help Riley with a tough decision.
