'Girl Meets World' season 3 episode 18 spoilers: As the holidays approach, Riley gets excited while Maya broods; episode based on ‘A Christmas Carol’

The Christmas spirit is in the air and laughter, joy, family and great food are everywhere. However, there are some people who would rather pull off their inner Ebenezer Scrooge and brood as the holidays approach. Viewers are going to see how this works out for this upcoming episode of “Girl Meets World.”

This upcoming episode of “Girl Meets World” entitled “Girl Meets A Christmas Maya” will let viewers see Riley (Rowan Blanchard) raving in excitement over Christmas. Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), on the other hand, shows her dislike for the Christmas atmosphere despite Riley’s display of enthusiasm.

The synopsis for this upcoming episode says that as Christmas approaches, Riley gets excited to celebrate her favourite holiday while Maya thinks that the holidays only bring back unpleasant memories from her childhood. Riley’s excitement is very clearly seen in the promo as she declares that the holidays are the best time to be a Riley unfortunately, her best friend thinks the opposite.

Maya shows her stern distaste for the season as she quotes Ebenezer Scrooge when she says “bah hambug.” She also tells Riley that people go crazy for no reason during the holidays and while exchanging presents for Secret Santa, Maya thinks they should go through it quick and tears through her gift instantly.

It is also reported that the title of this incoming episode of “Girl Meets World” is a reference to Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol.” This classic tells the story of a brooding old man who later on gets awakened by the spirit of Christmas after being confronted by the ghosts of Past, Present and Yet to Come. How Riley can encourage Maya to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year remains to be seen. It is to be noted, however, that “A Christmas Carol” had a happy ending so that could mean that this episode could have a positive ending as well.

This upcoming episode of “Girl Meets World,” titled “Girl Meets A Christmas Maya,” will air on the Disney Channel on Friday December 2, 2016. It also airs on Disney Channel Australia.
