'Girl Meets World' season 3 will have a two-night premiere; no love triangle happening, says writers
Original air date on the Disney Channel: June 3, 2016
“Girl Meets World” Season 3 is preparing to launch soon and the premiere will run on two nights. The show’s writers also said that the storyline will focus on deeper topics and not on the speculated love triangle between Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer).
The two-part premiere episode will be divided over two nights, says Yahoo. “Girl Meets High School Part One” will air on Friday, June 3, while “Girl Meets High School Part Two” will air on Sunday, June 5.
In an interview with TheWrap, creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs said that there will be an even bigger shift between Seasons 2 and 3, since high school is the most confusing and terrible. However, if done right, high school can serve as a great springboard into college and the rest of your life.
Jacobs said that the budding love triangle among the three friends will be answered in the third season up to the half at most. It will not be the primary focus but will always be an underlying issue for the characters.
They plan to answer the much bigger questions that young people at their age face. They aim to help young audiences perceive relationships properly and understand its value. He stressed that the show wants to focus more on helping young teenagers deal with the different situations that they face in high school in a smart way, so that they turn out to be well-rounded mature individuals.
Being on Disney Channel, they plan to explore heavier subjects within the limits set by the network. If they resolve the so-called love triangle, they have to do so in a manner that will not make younger audiences feel awkward. Jacobs continued that they plan to feature compelling and lovely episodes that will touch on all the same subjects that the show’s predecessor, “Boy Meets World,” did in the past.
On Twitter, the show writers teased that the three characters will find relationships in the next season.
“Girl Meets World” Season 3 will launch in spring 2016 on Disney Channel. More updates and details are expected soon.
