‘The Giver’ Newcomer Odeya Rush Talks about Her Auditions; Things to Know About the Actress
Projected to become a big star in Hollywood, Israel-born young actress Odeya Rush talks about what she went through in her auditions for a role in the movie adaptation of Lois Lowry's novel "The Giver," starring Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and Taylor Swift.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 17-year-old Israeli shares things about herself that the newly-gained fans of the star still probably don't know.
"I walked out thinking that I was never coming back," Rush tells the publication concerning her audition for the dystopian movie "The Giver," which is expected to follow the success of "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent."
Still making a name in Hollywood, Rush has been cast as Fiona, the love interest of Jonas, played by Brenton Thwaites, in "The Giver." According to the report, it took Rush six auditions and readings before she finally got the role.
Sparknotes explains that the character of Fiona is what will give Jonas his first "sexual stirrings" after an erotic dream about the red-haired girl who works as a Caretaker in the House of the Old.
"I'd never been in an audition room for an hour," Odeya Rush explains to EW. "We did it so many times. At the end, [Phillip Noyce] kind of threw one word at me, like 'great!' or something."
With a guest appearance in the TV series "Law and Order: SVU" in the episode "Branded," a breakout role in "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" and other roles in movies such as "We Are What We Are" and "When the Devil Comes," Odeya Rush appears to be a new name to remember.
Rush, who is said to have moved to the U.S. at the age of nine and made a TV debut at the age of thirteen, is called by Fansshare a "promising teenage actress."
Aside from "The Giver," the young actress is also set to appear in the movies "See You in Valhalla" and "Goosebumps."
Odeya Rush is joining Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, Taylor Swift and Katie Holmes in the movie directed by Australian film director Phillip Noyce, which is set to hit the theatres on Aug 15.
