The GLAAD Media Awards: Celebrities who Made it to the Event [PHOTOS]
The 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards took place last night at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles where over dozens of celebrities made it to the prestigious event.
"Hunger Games" star, Josh Hutcherson, who was set to receive the Vanguard award was one of the attendees. Check out who else made it to the event.
Ellen DeGeneres & Cher were just a few Hollywood A-list stars who made it to the event. Though Jason Mraz was supposedly the performer for the night, Jason had to cancel because he was feeling under the weather. The singer however still made an appearance plus even made a speech during the show.
"I was skinny and scrawny and we never fought back," said Mraz.
"We were tormented and I got my ass kicked. And I never fought back. But now I'm skinny and scrawny and I'm also rich and powerful...So I'm fighting back now for all our friends." added the singer.
"90210's" Trevor Donovan, Milla Jovovich, Betty White, Ali Larter plus a few others also made it to the event. Benicio Del Toro also made an appearance and he had presented the Vanguard Award to "Hunger Games" star, Josh Hutcherson.
"I'm sick of saying the words gay and lesbian," said Josh on receiving the award. "It's just people...One day I want my son to come home from school and be like, 'Dad, I found this guy and I love him.' And I'll be like, 'Yes, you do and that's OK!' I so want that."
Josh who had long been a supporter of the gay and lesbian rights also said he'd continue to fight for equality with his and Avan Jogia's group, "Straight but Not Narrow".
"I'll hopefully make a million more movies but this is what I want to do with my life, changing the world and hopefully change what people think," said Hutcherson, adding, "Everybody just be yourself and encourage everyone to do the same."
Hutcherson's and Chaz Bono's awards may have been the highlight of the night but it was through the speech of Tracy and Tim Rodemeyer that caused celebrities and the audience to bawl. The Rodemeyers' were the parents of the late Jeremy, the 14-year old who had committed suicide last year due to bullying and his sexuality.
