Glee Season 2: Sue Sylvester 'just a one-note character,' says Modern Family star
Modern Family star Sofia Vergara should have beaten Jane Lynch on her Emmy win for Glee Season 2's Sue Sylvester. That's according to his on-screen husband Ed O'Neill. The Canadian actor also thinks that Mckinley High's Sue Sylvester is "just a one-note character."
"I love Jane, honestly I do," said the O'Neill in an interview for TV Guide Canada.
"I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Glee Season 2' Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character."
It could be that O'Neill was just being a good on-screen husband by rallying behind the Columbian-born actress Vergara. Sofia plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, the wife of Ed O'Neill's character in Modern Family.
"Sofia is just so, so funny," O'Neill explained to TV Guide Canada.
"I don't think people realize how hilarious she is. She's so sharp with her wit, it's amazing."
For her turn in the series, Vergara was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In the race for the Emmy, Sofia lost to Jane Lynch who won it for her portrayal of a hardcore cheerleading coach in the popular show Glee, particularly in the Power of Madonna episode.
