Glee Season 2's Britney Spears episode broke record for the show as it aired Tuesday on Fox in the United States. The "Britney/Brittany" Glee episode posted a 4% increase in viewership since the musical went back on air for its Season 2.
Glee Season 2's tribute episode to Spears attracted 13.3 million since Glee premiered with "Audition" featuring Filipina singer Charice. The episode received the highest rating for the show.
The first to appreciate this bit fo good news is no less than the former pop princess herself. Britney Spears expressed gratituted to the show for featuring her and dedicating an episode to her music.
"I loved it!" Britney tweeted. "Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!"
Spears praised the performance of Heather Morris, who plays cheerleader Brittany. Morris sang, danced and recreated the videos for "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Me Against the Music".
Brittany is not the only Glee actress to receive praise from the pop singer. Britney also tweeted that Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry, "brought back so many memories" as she performed "Baby One More Time," the pop stars hit back in 1999.
