Glee Spoilers: What does “Creative Renaissance” Mean to Creator Ryan Murphy?
Glee is in for a "creative renaissance." Who said it, and what does it mean?
Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly told entertainment reporters that avid Glee fans could expect a creative renaissance in the hit show choir dramedy, Glee.
Asked for his reaction, Glee creator, Ryan Murphy, said Reilly may have not particularly liked what he has done with the show at the beginning of the third season.
Spoilers are coming up. Those who wish to keep Glee Season 4 a mystery should not read on.
"I think Glee's poised for a real creative renaissance this year," Reilly told the media.
"We're gonna have a show-within-a-show following some of the characters to New York, to the school of performing arts," Reilly continued, adding that new kids will be introduced in the Ohio campus.
"I'm very excited about the quality of talent that's looking to join the show. ... Glee is really positioned this year for a very strong year," Reilly said.
For his part, Murphy told Vulture, he was sure Reilly liked what he had pitched for Glee Season 4 because "it's very pop-culture-based."
"I don't think that Kevin was particularly a fan of what I was trying to do with the beginning of this season. We did an episode of all show tunes, we did several of them. There was the West Side Story thing that I loved, but I don't think the audience did. Kevin wants a Glee that's about Top 40, pop culture, big stars," Murphy said in an interview with Vulture.
As an added spoiler, Murphy said a Britney Spears episode will be seen early on in Season 4. He also noted that new chapters will open for some of the favorite Glee characters.
"Many of the characters will be starting over as underdogs, which is a good thing for the show. I really made an effort, talking to all the regulars about it," he said.
It has been earlier reported that huge guest stars will appear in Season 4-- Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name two.
So from the network executive to showrunner, all signs point to a new and improved Glee. The dramedy will be fortified with pop culture, underdog syndrome, and apparently, Britney Spears.
How do the Glee fans kill time before the show comes back with fresh episodes? Reruns and DVDs, of course.
