It's nothing to sing and dance about. "Glee" star Jane Lynch has announced the end of her marriage to Dr. Lara Embry. The couple will be getting a divorce after three years of marriage.

"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter," the 52-year-old actress said in a statement to People magazine.

Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester in the U.S. musical series, met the 44-year-old clinical psychologist in 2009 at a San Francisco fundraiser. After trying a long-distance relationship, the two got married on Memorial Day in 2010 in Massachusetts, where gay marriage is legal.

The actress then became a stepmother to Embry's young daughter, Haden, now 11 years old, with whom she has gotten close.

"My greatest pleasure is Haden, my stepdaughter," she told People in March at The Moms Mamarazzi event in New York. "I am surprised how much love you feel and how you would do anything for your children.

"I am in love and in awe with Haden. I like watching her walk through the world without fear. She happens to be an exceptional human being and one of the most fair, open-hearted, embracing people I have ever met - grownup or child."

TMZ sources claimed that Lynch and Embry don't have a prenup. And although they did not get married in California, their marriage is recognised in the state. This also means that if it's true that they don't have a pre-nuptial agreement, they would have to split the assets they acquired during their marriage 50/50.

Lynch currently stars in the Broadway musical "Annie."
