Golden Globe Awards 2017 nominations: Benedict Cumerbatch and Sam Heughan not part of the list
On Monday, the nominations for the Golden Globe Awards 2017 were announced at Beverly Hilton. Surprisingly, some of the biggest names noticeably excluded from the awards’ nomination list include "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and "Outlander" star Sam Heughan.
The Golden Globe Awards 2017 nominations include shows like “The Crown,” “Game of Thrones,” “Stranger Things,” “This Is Us” and “Westworld” under Drama Series category. It left out popular shows like “The Americans,” “Silicon Valley,” “Orange Is the New Black” and “House of Cards.”
Although “This Is Us” has been nominated, none of the male cast members were nominated. Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop from “Gilmore Girls” were also not nominated. Even Jeffrey Wright from “Westworld” was not nominated.
Caitriona Balfe of “Outlander” fame has been nominated but Sam Heughan from the same show was not.
Taraji P. Henson from “Empire” was not listed among the nominees. “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and its cast members were also left out.
Some of the most astonishing exclusions are Benedict Cumerbatch of “Sherlock Holmes” fame and Kit Harington from “Game of Thrones.”
Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga from “Bates Motel” were not nominated. Will Forte from “Last Man on Earth,” Viola Davis from “How to Get Away With Murder,” Kate McKinnon from “Saturday Night Live” and “Tatiana Maslany” are not included in the nominations.
The Golden Globe Awards never fails to amaze the viewers. The Golden Globe Awards 2017 ceremony will be broadcasted by NBC on Jan. 8 in the US. Jimmy Fallon will be hosting the award ceremony.
