A preview of the Mountain Lion OS X was first introduced last February 2012 and it was also mentioned during the WWDC 2012. This new OS would supposedly bring about new and additional features (estimated to be around 200 new features) such as iCloud integration, Messages, Reminders, Notes, Notification Center, Game Center, Messages, Calendar and Contacts. Additional features of the Mountain Lion OS was also mentioned during the WWDC 2012 which includes the following:
Power Nap - Power Nap is the newest technology from Apple which enables the Mac to accomplish things even when in sleep mode. This means that the Mac would be able to download, updatem and refresh data even when it is not actively used by the user. Apple also emphasizes that this feature won't drain its battery life meaning it would be silent and power-efficient.
Facebook Support- This new OS would enable Facebook support within the system thus making it easier to share photos, send messages, and communicate with friends in Facebook. There is no need to sign in more than once since users can just sign in once and would enable to access third-party services like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.
Dictation - Dictation is already on most iDevices and would soon make its way to the Mac. This feature can worl system-wide with any application that utilizes text input. Users can now access the microphone button and speak what they want to say. After this, Mac OS X would be able to translate it through text.
The Mountain Lion will be officially launched in the market by July, 2012. Users would need 2GB of memory and 8GB of space in order to run this new OS version. Users can avail of this latest version by purchasing it for AU$20.99 or US$19.99 through the Mac App Stores.
