Golden State Warriors Beat Houston Rockets, 105-93 Wins 14th Straight
The Golden State Warriors continue their torrid run in the 2014-2015 NBA season with a convincing victory over the Houston Rockets, 105-93 on Wednesday. The Warriors have now won 14 straight gams— stretching the franchise record. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes all scored 20 or more as Golden State bucked a slow start to get the win and improve 19-2 overall for the season— the best record in the entire league.
Curry had 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists; Thompson had 21 points and 2 blocked shots; while Barnes added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals for the Warriors, which trailed 30-23 after the first quarter but tied the game at halftime, 46-46. Houston was still at it by end of the third when they led by three points but the Warriors used a 32-17 fourth quarter to pull away from the Rockets, which were still missing the services of Dwight Howard.
Houston’s star James Harden led the team with 34 points on an efficient 14-of-27 field goal shooting and added 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Rockets forwards Donatas Motiejunas and Trevor Ariza scored 18 apiece. The Rockets played good three-fourths of the way but owing to the struggles in the payoff period shot just 41.6% from the field (37-of-89 FGs) and 25.7% from the three-point line (9-of-35 3FGs).
The Warriors’ bench also outscored the Rockets’ reserves, 26-5 led by forward Marreese Speights’ 15 markers. Houston’s four-game winning streak was snapped with the loss while Golden State has yet to lose a game since Nov. 11 when they fell to the San Antonio Spurs.
