Golden State Warriors could land OKC superstar Kevin Durant in 2016 free agency
One of the best players in the league, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, could land with the best team in the league, defending champions Golden State Warriors, according to a report.
Chris Broussard of ESPN admitted that Durant to the Warriors are all but speculations for now but the reporter stated that the move is a possibility when Durant becomes a free agent after the 2015-2016 NBA Season naming sources around the league.
"At this point, everything is speculation. When you talk to some executives, a name that has been thrown will shock people – Golden State,” Broussard reported. "Now, this is not something coming out of Durant’s camp. There are those around the league that think Golden State is a possibility."
The NBA salary cap is expected to rise after the current season and the Warriors can have enough cap space to sign a player like Durant if they let go of other players like Andrew Bogut, Jason Thompson, Shaun Livingston and others. Durant is the top player in the 2016 free agent list and he is expected to explore his options depending on how the Thunder fare in the current season.
Durant is just one of the many free agents available in 2016 and the list includes Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, Detroit Pistons centre Andre Drummond, Houston Rockets centre Dwight Howard, Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, Atlanta Hawks centre Al Horford, Chicago Bulls centre Pau Gasol and Miami Heat centre Hassan Whiteside, among others.
Durant is one of the best players in the NBA today and this season the OKC superstar averages 26.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game.
