Golden State Warriors vs Orlando Magic live stream: Watch NBA live on TV, preview, start time
The Golden State Warriors (53-14) will host the Orlando Magic (22-44) at the Oracle Arena Thursday evening in a battle between two struggling teams. While the mighty Warriors has lost five of its past eight games, the Magic is 3-7 since trading Serge Ibaka prior to last month's NBA trade deadline.
On Tuesday, the Warriors were down by 11 points against the Philadelphia 76ers at the start of the fourth quarter until Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson & co rallied back to escape with a 106-104 win at home. The Warriors is still 22-5 against Eastern Conference teams (11-1 against East teams at home) but is vulnerable at this stage of the season. In the month of March, Curry is shooting a paltry 30 percent from three despite attempting nearly 23 shots per game in Kevin Durant's absence. Thompson, too, has hit a shooting slump; the other Splash Brother is making just 33 percent of three-point attempts since the start of the new month.
Steve Kerr, coach of the Warriors, realises that the team needs to snap out of the slump ahead of next month's playoffs. "When you're in a rut, it's never easy. You don't lose five of seven and then just all of a sudden show up and blow a team out. You have to dig your way out of it," Kerr said after Tuesday's win, via ESPN.
Golden State Warriors reclaim top seed in West
The Warriors reclaimed the No. 1 seed Wednesday after the San Antonio Spurs suffered a shocking 110-106 defeat at the hands of Portland Trail Blazers despite the return of LaMarcus Aldridge. Going forward, every win matters since the Spurs are just a game behind the Warriors, who are still playing without Durant. Though Kerr has stressed that the team isn't playing for the No. 1 seed, the Warriors could benefit from home advantage during a potential conference finals showdown against Kawhi Leonard & co.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic began its three-game West Coast trip Monday with a 120-115 defeat to Sacramento Kings. The Magic has been plagued with the same problem for most of the season, its offense isn't clicking. It is currently ranked No. 29 in the league in scoring (99.9 points per game), 27th in field goal percentage (44.1) and No. 29 in three-point percentage (32.5).
The addition of Terrence Ross, who shot in excess of 40 percent from deep for the Raptors, was supposed to help. But it hasn't. In recent games, Ross has gone 0/5, 2/10, 3/10 and 4/17 in four out of his last 10 outings. "It's different (the system in Orlando); it's a new set-up from how it was in Toronto. I'm learning it and adjusting to it." The 14th seeded Magic are in prime position to land a possible top-5 pick during June's NBA Draft.
