‘Goliath’ season 2 update: Amazon to renew series for second season, show creator David E Kelly optimistic
“Goliath,” a legal drama airing on Amazon Prime, has been the talk of the town ever since its release on Oct. 16, 2016. With eight intriguing episodes, and driven by a brilliant tale to tell, the Billy Bob Thornton (as Billy McBride) starrer had been able to make its mark on the online TV streaming platform while bagging laurels at the 74th Golden Globe Awards. And with that said, “Goliath” season 2 could not be a distant dream.
Almost three months later, the freshmen drama series co-creator David E Kelly, at Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards, spoke about “Goliath,” hinting the possibility of renewing the show for a second season. “We are hopeful, I believe it’s likely,” said Kelly, who was promoting his new HBO limited series, “Big Little Lies.”
“We were told — you have to believe their own press releases — that it’s their No.1 show. That leads us to believe that we probably would be picked up for a second season,” Kelly added, according to a Deadline report. The show’s lead protagonist, Billy Thornton, too was optimistic about “Goliath” season 2, after winning the Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor, the report further stated.
“They would like to do another season, I know that much,” Thornton said at the awards. “This one was written in a way that it had a beginning, middle and an end so that was the intention, but I honestly believe there is more potential for this show beyond the first season.”
Nonetheless, Amazon is yet to announce whether or not the series will return for a second season. “Goliath” season 1 is about a washed up lawyer who, incognisant of a deadly conspiracy, takes on a massive law firm which he himself helped create. The show also casts Maria Bello and William Hurt in the lead, with actors Olivia Thirlby, Sarah Wynter, and Molly Parker as the sidekicks.
