Unified middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin may have finally found an opponent for his scheduled bout on Apr. 23 at the Madison Square Garden in WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders.

After receiving a tremendous welcome from fans during an FA Cup game between Arsenal and Burnley FC at the Emirates Stadium, Saunders revealed he wants to fight either Golovkin or Chris Eubank Jr for his next bout. The undefeated British middleweight, who won his WBO title over Andy Lee last year, added that the potential fight should happen at Arsenal in front of more than 60,000 fans.

“The next time I’m here I either want to be playing as Arsenal’s new signing or a more realistic option is to fight Golovkin or Eubank,” Saunders said, reports Boxing News 24. “Golovkin would be a tremendous fight for British boxing.”

Golovkin also had a trip of his own to the United Kingdom, where he dropped by to watch a Premier League match between West Ham and Manchester City. According to K2 Promotions managing director, the visit to UK went well for GGG, who wants to stage a fight at Upton Park or Olympic Stadium as reported by Sky Sports.

“The trip to UK was very successful, we got a big reaction from both the UK media and the UK fans,” Loeffler told Boxing Scene. “Clearly, they want to see him fight there at some point, you could say as soon as possible.”

Golovkin has yet to find an opponent for his boxing return in April, but there is a possibility that the undefeated Kazakh could set up a big fight with Saunders in UK, considering the statements from both fighters in various reports. Recently, Golovkin’s team reportedly offered Saunders and his manager Frank Warren $4 million (AU$5.6m) to fight the Kazakh, but the British declined, insisting he wants more money on the table.
