The Good Wife Season 4: ‘Kalinda’ thrilled on third Emmy nomination and possible second win, teases on husband’s story arc
The Good Wife's Kalinda Sharma is the star of the third season finale's final act. What happens when the door opens is the biggest cliffhanger of the series. Meanwhile, the actress who plays Kalinda, Archie Panjabi, is stoked over her third Emmy nomination.
"I was having my hair and makeup done and all the hair and makeup people are all very close friends of mine. The news came, I just jumped for joy," Panjabi tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Reacting on speculations that a Emmy nomination might not come as a surprise anymore, Panjabi says, she "can never take it for granted."
"(E)ven after winning the Emmy in 2010, you can never take it for granted that you would ever get a nomination in your life... To receive that nomination, I am ecstatic for them for recognizing my work on what I consider to be a very, very special production so I am very grateful," she continues.
Kalinda on Season 3 (Spoiler alert)
Kalinda and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) have made up last season. Their relationship was making a slow but steady progress when Alicia inadvertently opened Kalinda's Pandora's box.
One moment, Kalinda was ready to run away. It was an unusual occurrence because Kalinda hardly ever gets worried. Next second, she was sitting pretty with her gun, focused to aim well. It was as if she just decided she was ready to die, any way.
For her compelling portrayal of the most mysterious and dynamic character in the legal drama series, Panjabi deserves more than just three Emmy nominations in a row.
Kalinda on Season 4 (Teaser)
When "The Good Wife" comes back in the fall, Kalinda is expected to reunite with her seemingly very dark and dangerous husband. Marc Warren has been cast to play the shady character with whom Alicia has already interacted only via phone calls.
"I felt last season, particularly towards the end, [Kalinda's material] was emotionally very challenging... As an actress, I was taken out of my comfort zone... We see [Kalinda] being vulnerable, we see her being fearful, which are areas we very rarely see in Kalinda. It's that very challenge that excites me," Panjabi says.
After filming three episodes with Warren, Panjabi teases that her character's husband is "exciting, edgy and extremely entertaining." She says she is looking forward to finding out how the audience will react to this new development in Kalinda's life.
