'The Good Wife' season 7 episode 17 recap: Alicia and Eli try to identify an unconvinced juror
In Season 7 Episode 17 of “The Good Wife,” titled “Shoot,” a new case involved a gun store against a man who put up a billboard against the business. Alicia Florrick (Juliana Margulies) also worked with Eli (Alan Cumming) to identify a particular juror.
During the episode, Diane (Christine Baranski) and Cary (Matt Czuchry) represented a client, Harry Dargis (Blair Underwood), who was accused of defamation after he paid for a billboard ad asserting that a gun shop, and its irresponsible business methods, was ultimately the cause of his daughter’s death. Harry’s neighbours were actually drug dealers and during an altercation, a stray bullet fatally hit his daughter in the neck.
Harry was the defendant in the case after he put up a billboard stating, “Gloria’s (Guns) murdered my daughter.” According to Harry, the gun store sells firearms to anyone regardless of their background and eligibility. They countersued the business for damages, claiming that the increase in gun violence in their area resulted to losses for Harry and others. Ultimately, the judge ordered that Harry pay 10 cents per day for keeping the billboard up.
The grand jury was about to depose Alicia next, but with Eli’s help, she was able to come up with a strategy while trying to lead a grand juror to have doubts. They plan to have Alicia answer the questions, while trying to point out who the unconvinced juror was to give him more information on the things he wished to hear. She also wanted to emphasise during her testimony that Lloyd Garber had faulty memory.
Grace (Mackenzie Vega), Alicia’s daughter, was also accused of plagiarising her college admissions essay. In the end, they were able to turn the tables in their favour by threatening a class action suit, which compelled the school to back down.
Meanwhile, Diane and Alicia had some drinks, while the former talked about creating an all-female firm again. Diane said that she will offer to buy Cary out.
Alicia watched Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) meet and kiss another woman at a bar, and realised something about the status of their relationship. She talked to Lucca about her discovery. She was disappointed but not completely destroyed. She confirmed that she was married and that if anyone needed some explaining to do, it was her.
“The Good Wife” will air next on March 27 on CBS. It airs Wednesdays in Australia on TenPlay.
