Google Ends Production Of Nexus 5 To Give Way To Higher Versions
Google has confirmed their decision to discontinue production of Nexus 5. According to the email Google sent to a U.K. -based XDA Developers member verifying that the 3GB Nexus 5 models will not be available and will not be produced in the future.
According to the email, the company will not offer brand replacement for they will not be selling nor producing the brand anymore, The Inquirer reports.
Just recently, the Nexus 6 was launched and consequently the 32GB Nexus 5 model was reported to be unavailable in the market. It looks more of a business strategy to end the Nexus 5 to give way to its updated version. With the 32GB model out of the way, the market will have their eyes focused on the new Nexus entry.
The Google Play Store also marked the product as sold out. According to Tech Radar, the red and white 16GB Nexus 5 and the 32GB model which comes in three variants are all reported unavailable. The Play Store cannot give any clear cut information if any stocks will arrive soon.
Pre-orders for Nexus 6 already began in the United States last week. But minutes after its launch in the Google Play Store, the Nexus 6 was showing sold out and surprisingly unavailable. At first glance you would think that the launch was a success but eventually you will stop to think. Is Google's stock for the Nexus 6 falling short?
Apparently, Google has not announced its UK release of the new Nexus. This could be a sign of low stocks of the Nexus 6. No confirmation on the date but some speculations say that pre-orders may start in the next two weeks or so. The phablet has an estimated selling price of 550 pounds.
Google may still continue to support the Nexus 5 with software updates so owners of the device need not worry. Checking the product's status on the UK and US Google Play Stores, the black 16GB Nexus 5 is the only model in stock and is available.
