Google has been experimenting to run Android Wear on the iPhone platform and search engine giant is working towards developing an Android Wear app that can be used on iPhones. The project is in its final stages and the Google Android Wear app is likely to be unveiled at the Google I/O developers’ conference that is scheduled to be held in May this year, as per reports.

Smart watches are all set to be the next wave in the tech product ecosystem as we see many technology vendors like Samsung, LG, Huawei, Motorola, Apple, Sony, Asus entering this segment, reports eWeek. The Android Wear app which is still a novice in the Smart watch fraternity, provides basic functions on the iPhone like notifications about incoming messages, emails, as per the eWeek report.

If Google successfully develops its Android Wear app for its use on iPhones, the decision to include such an app in the Apple App Store lies with Apple which recently recorded high demand for its upcoming Smart Watch.

Understanding Google’s love for iPhones

With the success of iPhone 6, Apple has recorded sales of 74.5 million iPhones during the final quarter of 2014, reports CNET. Given the huge numbers, if Google comes up with a solution (on which it is actually working) that pairs Android smartwatches to iPhones, it can tap a huge market captured by Apple with its iPhones.

According to a report on Digital Trends, once the Android Wear app is released, Android Wear devices can compete with Apple Watch and other iOS devices. Besides that, Android Wear offers a variety of options to consumers in terms of price, design and customization options. Android supported smartwatches are priced from $200 to $300, which is far cheaper than the Apple Watch and they are also available in various designs, reports Digital Trends.

If Apple allows the inclusion of the Android Wear App in its Apple App Store, it will offer a lot of variety to iPhone consumers who can pair their iPhones with any smart watch supported by Android. Google had launched the Android Wear in March 2014 to offer wearable technology products.
