Google Nexus 5: LG Admits Interest on Next-Gen Nexus, New Nikon Camera Technology, Android 5.0 and October 2013 Release Date?
LG admits interest with the next-generation Nexus 5, and it is now rumoured to have a Nikon camera lens, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and October 2013 release date.
LG's Nexus 5 Interest
New reports suggest that Nexus 5 will be completed along with the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and to be launched in October 2013. Sony was recently flagged as a potential partner of Google for the new Nexus project, but the Japanese company didn't confirm it.
"The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again," Mr. Won Kim said on behalf of LG.
However, the NextWeb squeezed more truth about LG's real interest with Nexus 5 and how valuable it would for LG again to work for Google for the Nexus line.
"What Mr. Won Kim said is that we are not currently working on a Nexus 5, which is true. But that doesn't mean we would turn down the opportunity," an unnamed LG representative told TheNextWeb.
LG isn't working on a Nexus 5 right now, but the company will take every chance there is if Google ever decide to choose them as partner. The two firms may get together again and possibly for the future of Nexus - Nexus 6 perhaps.
Nikon Camera Lens on Nexus 5
Not only LG and Sony are surrounded with rumours on contributing to the next-gen Nexus but also Nikon. Speculation has it that Nexus 5 will have a Nikon camera technology, and Google is working with the company on the Nikon Coolpix S800c/ A camera upgrade would be a great selling point for Nexus 5.
LG, HTC, Sony and Samsung have invested much in camera technology and almost imitated certain exclusive functions from digital cameras such as ISO modes, image stabilisation and digital zooming.
However, one issue stands against a Nikon camera - the internal storage on Nexus 5. Previous generation Nexus 4 holds up to 16GB of on board storage which may not be enough for a Nikon camera, and its features if Nexus 5 will only have the same amount of storage space. Either Google locks 32GB or 64GB variants of Nexus or allow microSD card slot to support Nikon camera lens.
