As Google I/O 2014 meet will start on June 25, reports regarding Nexus 8, Google's much awaited tablet, are making rounds in the tech industry. Earlier reports suggested Nexus tablet is in development stage and will have an upgraded processor running on it.

Recently, MYCE, a trusted source claimed to have identified a new reference to 'volantis/flounder in the Android source code. Google, traditionally, gives codename to its Nexus devices after sea creatures. Flounder, a species of flatfish, is the codename supposedly given to the much rumored Nexus 8 tablet.

The rumors relating to the flounder are making headlines online that can be trusted as Google has been removing referenced to it from code and developer forums for a while now. Also, the Nexus 8 tablet is set to be launched during the Google I/O event by end of June. This also seems to be legit as Nexus has been launching its devices during this time like Nexus 7 tablets came out in July last year.

MYCE also posted a screenshot showing more references to Nexus 8 tablet running on a Tegra processor. The screenshot provides the data that both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the tablet are being worked out as speculations are more toward the 64-bit that will run Nvidia Tegra ARM CPU. This contradicts an earlier report claiming Nexus 8 will include an Intel chipset.

If previous reports were true, the upcoming Nexus 8 tablet will feature a high quality 8.9-inch display screen with limited units as compared to its other products. Also, it will carry high-end specifications and sport a high price tag.

It is also speculated the tablet will be made by HTC instead of Asus. It is expected Google will hit 64-bit to compete with the iPad mini having Apple's A7 64-bit chip.

With the event getting closer, it is the perfect time to launch the Android version of Nexus 8. But a report that came out earlier argued Google will not launch any of the Nexus devices and replace it with a new project, Android Silver by early next year.
