Google's Nexus 7 Takes a jab at Apple's iPad mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
Newcomer Nexus 7 Has Great Graphics, Ideal Size & Outperforms Competitors iPad mini and Samsung Galaxy
With new and improved version, Google has launched a new Nexus 7 tablet with new and improved features that just might give the touted iPad mini and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 a run for their money.
One of the enhancements is graphics. Outfitting the Nexus with a full HD screen and improved processing capacity just goes beyond expectations. Adding a 5 megapixel rear camera was exactly what it needed.
Tech watchers have been anticipating a comparison between the newly released Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Nexus. 3.
The Nexus 7 has come out on top over its main rivals, the iPad mini and the Samsung Galaxy Tab in many areas of engineering.
Starting with costs, Google's Nexus 7 tags at $229 (16 GB) and $269 (32 GB) - about half the price of a high-end iPhone. Unfortunately, only the 32 GB model is equipped with WiFi & 4G LTE, which would cost you a handsome $349.
At that price, the Nexus 7 costs more than its older remnants. A comparable model unveiled in 2012 went for $199(16 GB) and $249 (32 GB). However, a 32 GB model with Wifi and 3G went for $299.
The Nexus 7 price tag is no comparison for the iPad mini, which costs considerably more with a pricing of $329 (16 GB) carrying Wi-Fi only, $429 for 32 GB, and $529 (64 GB). The cellular connectivity featured WiFi plus models were a good $130 more.
The 7 inch screen on the Google Nexus is the same as its precursor, but the screen resolution is power packed to 323 pixels per inch. You might hear the the Nexus screen size scream next to the iPad mini. Though Apple's attempt to capture the pockets of the average consumer is a good one, with a 7.9 inches diagonal screen, the resolution is not very good at 163 pixels per inch.
Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has a TFT screen with a WSVGA resolution, which is really low.The Nexus 7 blows out any rivalry for the best screen at this point.
But Apple has everything in its repertoire of technologies to push up the iPad mini's screen and refurbish the product as a tablet carrying its patented Retina Display feature outed on its iPhone 5.
As far as durability of the camera and battery life are concerned, the Nexus 7 offers a 5 megapixel rear camera along with 1.2 megapixel camera at the front fully loaded with 9 hours of battery.
The iPad mini carries a 5-megapixel rear-camera along with 1.2 mp front view and the battery performance of the iPad mini is unbeatable at a phenomenal 10 hour for the WiFi only version.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch offers a front 1.3 megapixel camera and 3 megapixel camera sported at the rear with 4000 mAh battery that can presumably last 20 hours of talktime.
As far as processing requirements are concerned, the Nexus 7 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 1.5GHz processor which is quad-core and Adreno 320, 400MHz GPU for graphics.
The iPad mini as everyone knows is outfitted with as a dual-core A5 processor chip clocked at 1Ghz and PowerVR SGX543MP2 for graphics.
The Operating Systems for the the new Nexus 7 include Android 4.3, the latest version of Android, while the iPad mini operates on iOS 6 currently and will get the upgrade to the new iOS 7 when released. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 runs on Android 4.1 version with Samsung's Touch Wiz UI, reports First Post.
