Gossip Girl is ready for its big exit when it comes back in the fall. What could the fans expect in the final season of the popular series?

This is where you stop reading if you don't want any clues on what could happen to the shows Top 2 ladies, Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester).

Husband No. 2 for B?

A blind item from TV Line's Michael Ausiello delighted Gossip Girl fans last week. He reports:

"A primetime soap that, although popular, came this close to getting the axe at season's end - and just when a pair of its well-liked lovebirds were heading for a reunion, too. Now I hear that, when the show returns this fall, it'll pick up right where it left off and pleasantly surprise fans by immediately marrying off the star-crossed couple in question."

What other series could Ausiello be referring to? Mix the operative phrases "well-liked lovebirds" and "star-crossed couple" to the series description, and you will most certainly get The CW series, Gossip Girl.

The final act of Gossip Girl Season 5 shows Blair and Chuck (Ed Westwick) reuniting in a Parisian casino, with Blair saying she is all in for the love of her life. Does this scene immediately lead to wedding bells? As abrupt as it may seem, it would still be about time for the on-and-off pair. "Chair" shippers would agree.

It's always been Chuck and Blair - executive producer Stephanie Savage

In an earlier interview, Wetpaint asked GG executive producer Stephanie Savage on her thoughts about Chuck and Blair. When did the show runners determine it would be the duo in the finale?

"I don't know that it was ever a question at any point in the season particularly. I think it was just a question of arcing out that relationship so that it ended in a place where it was Blair coming to declare that she was in it to win it with Chuck and leaving that as the question of season 6," Savage said.

New love for S?

As for the Upper East Siders' "It Girl" Serena, Ausiello has this scoop:

"Things are looking up for the drug-addled, friendless basket case that is Serena: I'm hearing she'll be getting a major new love interest..."

Serena is known for her passing flings and complicated encounters. But could she finally have someone really right for her? Or will the next romance be the transition guy for a happily-ever-after with ex-boyfriend Nate (Chace Crawford)?

What about Lonely Boy Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley)? If Chuck and Blair do get married, hell will break loose in the mind of the already pissed off young writer. Another book is in progress, for sure.

Final scoop (for now): Gossip Girl Season 6 Episode 1 "Gone Maybe Gone"

GG writer Josh Schwartz uploaded to Twitter what could be the official title of the premiere episode next season: "Gone Maybe Gone."

Should the fans ask "who" or "what" will be (maybe) gone?

Gossip Girl will return for the last time on The CW in October. The countdown goes on.
