'Gotham' season 2 episode 17 spoilers: 'Wrath of the Villains': Penguin discovers that his step-family was involved in his father’s early death

In Season 2 Episode 17 of “Gotham,” Jim Gordon will try to clear his name. Penguin will also find out that his step-family was behind his father’s death.

In the previous episode, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) managed to escape from prison with the help of Don Falcone (John Doman). Gordon will do his best to earn back his reputation and clear his name. However, he may be involved in more problems in the upcoming episode, titled “Into the Woods.”

“In an attempt to clear his name, Gordon steals his case file and approaches Nygma for help. Meanwhile, Penguin discovers his step-family’s role in his father’s death, and awakens from his conditioning,” states the episode synopsis.

Gordon will again resort to an unlikely person to ask for help. He, however, is unaware that Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) was behind his framing and ending up in jail. He may eventually find out that he was the victim and fight back or he may again be tricked into another serious predicament.

Furthermore, Barbara (Erin Richards) will finally exit her comatosed condition. Hugo Strange (BD Wong) will have some plans for Barbara. She may immediately seek Gordon out or do Hugo’s bidding first.

Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) will also appear in the next episode. The promo clip featured Bruce with Selina (Camren Bicondova) on top of a roof. Bruce starts to bounce off rooftops, which may give fans a glimpse of the future Batman. The episode trailer also showed Nygma’s big change into becoming Batman’s nemesis as The Riddler. The video also featured Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) grieving the death of his father, Elijah.

Carter Matt reveals that “Into the Woods” will also delve more into Elijah’s family and Oswald. His step-family are prepared to kick him out but Oswald is willing to give and do everything just to have a family of his own. However, the Van Dahls should not also take his openness for granted. His inner Penguin may surface, which can mean violence for the entire family. Oswald will discover that the family was part of his father’s early death.
